How to work smarter, not harder in Q4 (and the tool to make it happen)
Temps are coming down, the fall candles are lit, and we’re all curled up with a blanket, our favorite drink, and our thinking caps, planning Q4 + Q1 2025, right? My favorite thing to do at the beginning of the fourth quarter is to map out not only how I want to end this year, but how I want to start next year.
For me, success in business looks like more income, for less time investment & more impact for less hours. It feels like peace and productivity, rather than pressure, but I didn’t get there overnight.
I had to go through a lot of trial and error, a lot of systems and processes, and a lot of time before I found a rhythm that works for me.
One of my favorite tools to help achieve this is Flodesk. Not only is it easy & aesthetic, it’s also affordable, functional, and the ROI is there.
If I’m honest, I stayed away from creating a regular newsletter for years! I thought people would find it annoying, then my mentor explained to me, that I don’t feel this way about social media posting, i don’t feel this way about the newsletters I subscribe to, and then there’s the fact that my subscribers CHOOSE to subscribe to my newsletter (and if they felt annoyed they’d just unsubscribe). This perspective opened my eyes, and changed everything for me. Now I GOT IT, but something was still standing in my way. At the time, I was using a software that was part of my membership. It was clunky and to be honest, just really not user friendly. It didn’t excite me, so I never put it to use. But when I was introduced Tom Flodesk as the go-to tool for female entrepreneurs, it felt so aligned — it made me want to show up in this way.
For years I’ve preached that owning spaces online (like a blog or email list) is a best practice for online business owners. You never know what could happen when we don’t own social spaces, so the safest bet you have is to direct your audience to a place you can go deeper.
Once I started putting in the consistent effort, my list really began working for me. I wasn’t bothering anyone- instead, I was meeting them in a place that meant business (their inbox) with a relatable vibe that motivated them to dig deeper and build a business that helps them support a life they love! Ever since, email has been the root of my strategy, and I’m excited to share with you how my favorite tool helps bring that all to life.
Here’s how I’m using Flodesk to dial in on my “work smarter, not harder” Q4 strategy
- Using my email list as the foundation of my content strategy
Like I mentioned above, email has been the root of my strategy for years. I didn’t feel confident leaning into that (and to think of the time and money I wasted!) until I found a tool that worked for me. It had to be easy to use (think IPhone), look good, and get results. I am no designer, so I didn’t have time to craft a beautiful email every week. But what I did have time for, were templates! I found one I just love in the flodesk template library and I am able to duplicate it every week for a fresh email, with an on-brand look. So easy!
I always include 3 sections to my email
I start off the conversation with something relatable, a quick update from wherever I am traveling, or what’s relevant that week, then I dive into the juicy stuff
1. A link to my latest podcast episode (this is where the majority or my podcast clicks come from, yes! Even more than IG stories! Because it’s safely kept right in their email and they know where to find it!)
2. A link to a hard hitting instagram post from the week - often this is a journal prompt or an education moment that can make a big impact in a small amount of time.
3. A call to action for my latest or evergreen offer (depending on the season or business we are in at the time)
Each of the topics in the middle of the email has links that Flodesk allows me to track! Not only can I see how many link clicks I got, but I can also see who clicked it!
I end the email with an invitation to continue the conversation, this keeps it casual and lets the subscriber know my door is always open, I am not just here for a transaction.
- Using checkouts to sell a mini course, digital product, or program
After a few years of using Flodesk I was invited to BETA test their checkouts system. As someone who advocates for exponentioal income for online entrepreneurs, I was so excited to see this! I jumped at the chance and created a space to sell my Kickstart your Membership Course as soon as it was available.
I love that it makes a tool I am already using multi-facited and takes care of the email part of course creation so easily. BUT my favorite part? It’s the checkout pages themselves. Gone are the days of my messy sales pages one my website, thanks to Flodesk I am using a beautiful plug & play template.
Once I had my checkouts page up and running, I realized I could use it to sell spots in challenges and group programs, too! I duplicated my go-to template and bam— I had a checkout page for my HOLY SH*FT challenge! I will never create a challenge any other way, now that I have this available to me.
My next move with Flodesk checkouts is to launch a few digital products, because I’ve already got them created, and I’ve got a space to keep them…so why not?
